New batch available in early October.

The Marlowe is a handmade leather camera strap made in Western Australia — a nod to the classic camera straps of the film era, built with materials that will only get better with age.

Made from 2mm full grain Buttero vegetable tanned leather sourced from the Conceria Walpier tannery in Tuscany, Italy. Soft and pliable straight from the box — each strap is hand conditioned with leather balm before it leaves the workshop, giving the Buttero an immediate suppleness that will deepen further with wear.

The hardware is solid brass throughout — brass rivets and brass split rings. Solid brass develops a warm, lived-in patina over time that complements the dark brown Buttero beautifully.

The 30mm Buttero neck pad is attached with brass rivets and spreads the load across the neck for a more comfortable carry — particularly on longer shooting days. The straps are 13mm wide x 2mm thick keeping the overall look slim and uncluttered and best suited to lighter camera bodies with small to medium lenses. The design is intentionally minimal — the brass does the talking.

The Marlowe suits film cameras, mirrorless cameras, and rangefinders equally well. It's a particularly natural companion for vintage and classic camera bodies — Leica M series, Voigtlander, Rolleiflex, Contax, and the Fujifilm X series all carry the Marlowe exceptionally well

Aging beautifully

The Marlowe is designed to age. The dark brown Buttero will develop a deep patina with use — softening in the areas that flex most and holding its structure where it matters. The brass rivets will darken overall with polished highlights in wear areas. With regular use the Marlowe will soon look like a vintage classic.

Care

The strap arrives pre-conditioned with leather balm. No immediate care needed. If the leather starts to feel dry apply a small amount of leather balm or quality leather conditioner to maintain suppleness and encourage even patina development. Wipe brass hardware with a dry cloth — do not polish, as the natural patina development is part of the design. Keep away from prolonged water exposure.
